Not ready to purchase? Denver has many options available when renting your first Colorado home.

Apartments are abundant and vary in size, amenities and style. Property managers are typically on site, making viewing easy and convenient. Apartment rents range from $500 per month for an entry level studio to $1600 for three-bedroom or luxury units. Apartment communities typically require a six-month lease, although some will allow a three-month lease at a slightly higher rent. Typical deposits range from $250 to $500 on these units.

Town homes and condominiums are available through private owners and may be accessed through property mangers, rental locators, or the property owners themselves. Town homes typically rent for between $850 and $1800 per month. Condominium rentals offer a wide range of rent prices, depending upon location, size and condition. Typical rents range from $600 per month up to $1200. Deposits can range from $250 to one month's rent and owners typically ask for a minimum six-month lease.

Family pets can pose a special challenge. Many landlords are hesitant in allowing pets, especially in homes that have been recently updated or remodeled. Be prepared to pay extra in deposits and rent for properties that do allow pets.

Looking to rent a single family home? Houses in areas with high supply and demand (such as those with popular school districts) begin at about $1500 per month and can go as high as $3500 for executive style homes. Property owners of single-family homes typically require a minimum 1-year lease and one month's rent as deposit.
